Endodontic Emergencies: Tips from a Specialist on Treating Dental Trauma

Live, Interactive Webcast Continuing Education Course - 3 Hours Credit

Instructor: Dr. Marisa Zarchy, DMD

Course Description:

Taught by an endodontist, this course will cover how to effectively handle traumatic injuries affecting the teeth and surrounding periodontia. Although especially challenging cases can be referred to an endodontist, general dentists should understand how to evaluate, diagnose, and treat endodontic injuries in necessary cases. This course teaches how to assess injuries to the hard tissues, dental pulp, and gums, provide temporary or permanent treatment as painlessly as possible, and address any possible complications such as necrosis and tooth ankylosis. You will learn the most recent treatment guidelines of the American Association of Endodontists as well as the IADT Guidelines for the Evaluation and Management of Traumatic Dental Injuries.

By taking this course, the clinician will:

  1. Learn how to diagnose and treat traumatic injuries to the hard dental tissues and pulp
  2. Learn how to diagnose and treat traumatic injuries to the periodontal tissues
  3. Review up-to-date treatment protocols for hard dental tissues, pulpal and periodontally involved injuries
  4. Understand how to utilize bioceramic materials in a traumatic injury
  5. Review post-op pain medications for children and adults
