When to Use Bridges vs Implants
Live, Interactive Webcast Continuing Education Course - 3 Hours Credit
Instructor: Dr. Kenneth Colerick, D.D.S.
Today we are able to place implants where in the past we could only place bridges. Have we outgrown bridges? Are they still necessary? This course will explain why bridges are still necessary and which cases warrant then. Topics covered will include the time factor – how long it takes to create a bridge vs. implant - the cost associated with both treatments, and the patients ability to receive bridges vs. implants. The procedure of adding bone to certain patients and the risks will be discussed, as well as which patients are the best – or worst – candidates for these procedures. This course will take you through the process of placing a bridge for those patients who are best suited for them. Also covered in this lecture is what is necessary to make a bridge work. You will also learn where you need to place the three different types of crown preparations.
After completing this course, the clinician will be able to:
- You will learn the basic techniques for producing a Bridge.
- You will learn when there is a need for constructing a Bridge.
- You will learn the three basic crown preparations and when to use them.
- You will learn what is necessary to have a successful bridge.
