Course Description:

This course was developed for dental professionals as an introduction to unbiased, peer-reviewed published evidence of the dental and systemic medical benefits of consuming an unprocessed plant-based diet. While this course will discuss the systemic medical benefits of this type of diet a focus on dental and periodontal health will also be examined.

The course will look at research that demonstrates an increase in morbidity and mortality associated with the consumption of processed food as well as dairy products, eggs and animal flesh.

After completing this course, the clinician will be able to:

  1. How to identify research studies that are biased
  2. How biased researched studies are systematically performed and published
  3. The major causes of death and disease in the western world
  4. The dental and systemic risks associated with consuming animal flesh, dairy, eggs and processed food-like substances
  5. The bidirectional relationship between many systemic disease and periodontitis
  6. The risks associated with insufficient serum vitamin D level and its prevalence
  7. The common misconceptions about what constitutes healthy nutrition
  8. The molecular mechanism of non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus
