Advances in Dental Technology

Live, Interactive Webcast Continuing Education Course
3 Hours Credits

Instructor: Dr. Virgil Karnatz DDS

Course Description:

This course is designed to introduce the dentist to some of the new advances in dental technology that can enable a more efficient workflow in dentistry. The future of dentistry is digital, and has become an essential component in many practices - improving clinical outcomes, patient comfort, and reducing the time and expense of restorations of implants. With the development of bioactive dental materials, we can help repair and sustained healthy tooth structure instead of just occupying space between themselves and the surrounding tooth wall.

These new advancements provide many options for the dentist to choose from. It is important that dentists understand this evolution and the options to select the ideal technology, and materials for each dental procedure.

After completion of this course, the dentist will have an understanding of new technology, including, but not limited to:

  • Intra- oral scanners and cameras
  • 3-D Printers, Digital Smile Design software
  • T-Scanner (Digital bite analysis)
  • CAD/CAM technology
  • Laser use in dentistry
  • Early caries diagnosis
  • Electric handpieces
  • Dental implants including mini implants
  • Cone Beam Cat Scans (CBCT)
  • Air abrasion
  • Digital Radiography
  • Digital Photography, and more…..

About Live, Interactive Webcast Continuing Education Seminars:

A live, interactive webcast seminar is similar to attending a continuing education seminar in your community,
except that you attend via your computer. Each course is done live in a format that allows your participation.

Anyone who has access to a computer that can play sound can participate in an ACES webcast seminar. No
special computer knowledge or equipment is required to participate in our webcast seminars.

When you enroll in any ACES webcast course, you will be sent an e-mail with complete information on how to
join the online seminar and a copy of the course syllabus. At the conclusion of your live seminar, you will complete
a course examination online. You will then be able to print your continuing education certificate from your computer.
