Course Description:

Dentists and staff alike can suffer from conditions such as sciatica and low back pain. This course will help you to understand how these problems arise and discuss the most effective treatments available. We will review anatomy of the low back, hip, leg and lower leg so that you may better understand why dental professionals are susceptible to sciatica, low back pain, hip pain and even plantar fasciitis. We will discuss nerve entrapment, core strength and how to effectively treat pain of the low back and leg and most important, prevention.

After completing this course, the clinician will be able to:

  1. Learn why dentists suffer from low back pain.
  2. Review the anatomy of the hip and leg and understand what is CORE strength and stability.
  3. Learn how sciatica develops.
  4. Gain a better understanding of nerve entrapment in the thigh and lower leg and foot; what it is, how it develops and how to prevent it.
  5. Review the anatomy of the lower leg, calf and foot.
  6. Learn what contributes to Plantar Fasciitis.
  7. Learn the importance of muscles of the hip, pelvis and low back.
  8. Learn about soft tissue therapies that are highly effective in treating nerve entrapment such as sciatica.
