TMJ and Headaches can be challenging to treat for the even the most experienced practitioner. This course focuses on Phase I treatment, including a review of muscles and trigger point patterns, accessing the patient as a whole including posture, airway, imaging of the joint, why the patient has clicking/ popping, parafunctional activity and the nervous system, which splint to choose, current physical modalities that can be done in your office, non-narcotic treatment and supplementation.
This course will help you better understand internal joint problems, when to use a deprogrammer versus full occlusal treatment device, bite registrations, and follow up appointments.
After completing this course, the clinician will be able to:
- Examine the issues the TMJ patient may present with.
- Review muscles involved in the TMJ patient.
- Review trigger point patterns.
- Review the different types of treatment devices.
- Review internal joint derangements and imaging.
- Review dietary issues that may promote inflammation.
- Review dietary supplements.
- How stress plays a role in pain.
